Climate Change and Community-Based REDD+ Education Manual

Climate Change and Community-Based REDD+ Education Manual

How can we educate indigenous people about climate change and REDD+?

This manual shows REDD+ policy developers how they can convey the often ‘intangible’ concepts of climate change and environmentally responsible forestry management to indigenous people with limited or non-existent formal education, in order to maximise the community’s control and its share of the benefits of indigenous-owned REDD+ schemes.

The Climate Change and Community-Based REDD+ Education Manual builds on existing resources while using more accessible language and offering step-by-step activities that resonate with and are understood by community members. It provides guidance on running workshops, methods of assessment, background information on climate change and REDD+ and ways to encourage holistic thinking that incorporates REDD+ in indigenous communities.
