Women and Men Working Together in Natural Resource Management

What are the benefits of men and women working together?

This manual is designed for facilitators working in communities to promote gender inclusivity in decision making around natural resource management. It contains five modules, which introduce gender concepts, discuss the different gender roles in resource use and decision making around resources, how different gender groups are affected by resource issues, how to identify gender inequities regarding resource management, and how to act upon them.

Each module is built around a ‘learning circle’ approach to learning and problem solving, which aims to increase participation, particularly by women. Modules contain useful information for facilitators as well as activity and discussion ideas to be used with groups.
