Beachwatch Toolkit

How can we improve community awareness around beach erosion and encourage better beach management practices?

This manual introduces a series of activities that can be used in mobilising communities to establish beach management projects. These include activities like mapping, monitoring and stakeholder meetings. The steps involved in each activity are clearly explained, alongside what items are needed to undertake them and what their outputs should be.

Clear and informative factsheets are also provided for facilitators and participants alike, with the aim of equipping community members with the practical knowledge required to undertake beach management projects. These factsheets cover topics such as ‘what is beach erosion?’, how to build a seawall or an offshore breakwater, and how to nourish a beach with sand.
