Carbon Financed Community Forest Conservation in Solomon Islands

Climate change, poverty, biodiversity loss, water degradation and erosion are major challenges faced by Pacific Island nations in the 21st century. The Carbon Financed Community Forest Conservation project in the Solomon Islands is helping to address these challenges. Focused on the delivery of forest conservation and community development through the creation and sale of carbon credits, this is protecting the rainforest while helping fund local economic development.
This project is implemented by Nakau Programme with support from Live & Learn Solomon Islands, NRDF, Ekos, The Connective and is funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
