Environmental Issues in the Tonle Sap – RAP

Can community perceptions of water issues be used to develop more appropriate environmental education programs?

Water pollution poses a significant hazard to people living around the Tonle Sap. This Rapid Assessment was conducted in support of the pilot demonstration activity to gauge community perceptions of water issues. It also aimed to inform the development of environmental education tools for a Water Awareness Program.

The report contains the findings of the assessment, policy recommendations and suggested methodologies for education tools. It suggests that environmental education programs should be action-oriented and involve active participation and critical thinking from community members.
