Community Water Monitoring Guide

How can we motivate communities to monitor water quality?

‘Is Your Water Safe to Drink?’ is designed for use with the Community Water Governance Guide and will help teachers and community leaders understand the importance of testing water to ensure it is safe to drink and does not spread disease within the community.

Using cartoons and other illustrations, the guide alerts community members to the dangers of untreated drinking water and inadequate sanitation practices, and encourages not only the testing of water quality, but also handwashing and safe disposal of waste to prevent contamination of water sources. The Community Water Monitoring Guide explains how and when to use H2S paper strip testing and how to set up a community system of regular and consistent water testing.
